HEY THERE! I UPLOADED A POST A LITTLE OVER A MONTH AGO EXPLAINING MY 10 POUNDS DOWN CHALLENGE, AND WHY I WAS DOING IT. I STARTED OUT AT 341 POUNDS!!! AFTER MY FIRST DOCTOR'S VISIT (1/9/16), I WAS DETERMINED TO FINALLY GET MY HEALTH TOGETHER, AND STICK TO IT. 2 WEEKS AFTER MY VISIT, I GOT ON THE SCALE AT HOME, AND I HAD LOST 10 POUNDS. WHEN I VISITED MY DOCTOR ON 2/6/16, I GOT ON THE SCALE AND FOUND OUT I LOST AN ADDITIONAL 2 POUNDS; A TOTAL OF 12 POUNDS IN A MONTH (AND 2 DAYS LOL)!
HOW DID YOU DO IT?

THOSE TWO WEEKS AFTER SEEING MY DOCTOR WERE ABOUT EATING BETTER AND INCORPORATING EXERCISE IN MY DAILY SCHEDULE. MY SISTER TOLD ME ABOUT THE 21 DAY FIX PROGRAM, AND WANTED TO TRY IT, SO I SAID WHY NOT!
REMINDER: MY DOCTOR WANTED ME TO COME DOWN TO 1500 CALORIES A DAY, SO KEEP THAT IN MIND WHILE YOU READ THIS. BASED ON THE 21 DAY FIX PLAN, DEPENDING ON HOW MANY CALORIES YOU INTAKE WILL DETERMINE HOW MANY SERVINGS OF FRUIT, VEGGIES, ETC YOU'LL EAT A DAY.
I PURCHASED A SCALE FROM AMAZON.COM TO HELP TRACK MY PROGRESS. GETTING ON THE SCALE EVERY OTHER WEEK TO EVERY TWO WEEKS HELPED ME NOT BECOME DISTRACTED BY THE NUMBER. YES, THE NUMBER IS IMPORTANT, BUT I'M NOT TRYING TO BECOME OBSESSED WITH THE NUMBER.
PORTION CONTROL WHILE STILL EATING WHAT YOU LOVE
I ALWAYS HEAR "80% OF WEIGHTLOSS IS IN THE KITCHEN; 20% IN THE GYM"...HOWEVER, I SAY 50/50. I DOWNLOADED TH FITBIT APP, AND STARTED MANAGING WHAT I WAS EATING. I STILL ATE WHAT I NORMALLY EAT, BUT I PORTION CONTROLLED MY FOOD. WHICH I BELIEVE MADE A HUGE DIFFERENCE IN MY WEIGHTLOSS BECAUSE I WASN'T DOING IT PRIOR TO MAKING THIS CHANGE. I ALSO MADE SURE THAT MY WATER INTAKE INCREASED BETWEEN 64-96 OZ A DAY.
EATING MORE FRUITS AND VEGGIES DAILY IN SUBSTITUTION OF A LOT OF JUNK FOOD HELPED TOO. SINCE THE SEMESTER STARTED, I BEGAN TAKING MY LUNCH (ON CERTAIN DAYS), AND HAVING HEALTHY SNACKS LIKE ALMONDS, CARROTS, YOGURT, ETC. ANOTHER THING TO KEEP IN MIND IS THAT I HAD TO EAT A LOT DURING THE DAY TO GET ALL MY CALORIES. MORE MEALS, SMALLER PORTIONS.
IT WASN'T EASY A LOT OF THE TIME BECAUSE I USUALLY DON'T GET HUNGRY A LOT. THE MAIN REASON I WAS BINGE EATING WAS BECAUSE I WOULD WAIT UNTIL I WAS STARVING. I STOPPED DOING THAT. INSTEAD, I HAD AN ASSORTMENT OF FRUITS AND VEGGIES ON HAND TO HELP BETWEEN MEALS.
I ALSO BEGAN TO COOK MORE AT HOME. MY SISTER USUALLY DOES THE COOKING MOST DAYS, BUT I WANTED TO TRY DIFFERENT RECIPES.

AFTER THAT, I WENT TO YOUTUBE FOR WORKOUTS AS WELL AS MY ZUMBA DVDS AND PINTEREST FOR THOSE PRINTABLE WORKOUTS. I TRY TO SWITCH IT UP AS MUCH AS I CAN SO I WON'T GET BORED. I DO A LOT OF BODY WEIGHT EXERCISES TO TONE AS I'M LOSING WEIGHT.
3/9/16 UPDATE: I've fallen behind a bit on my workout schedule, but started again yesterday. Again, this is what has been working for me. I tried my first HIIT workout, and actually completed it. Felt good! Baby steps!
